CHI Marks World AIDS Day with Community Awareness Drive in Nyeri
Citizen Health Initiative joined communities across Nyeri County to mark World AIDS Day with a series of public health awareness activities. The event brought together people living with HIV, community health volunteers, local leaders, and partner organisations.
The day featured free HIV testing and counselling services, information sessions on treatment adherence, and a public dialogue on reducing stigma. Over 200 community members participated, with 87 individuals accessing HIV testing services on the day alone.
“Our goal is not just to mark the day but to use it as a springboard for sustained community engagement,” said CHI’s Programme Manager. “HIV affects every family in this community — our work is to make sure no one faces it alone.”
CHI continues to provide HIV prevention, testing, and psychosocial support services across Nyeri County throughout the year.
